Blake Shelton è uno di quegli artisti costantemente sotto i riflettori.
Non solo perché è uno dei coach di The Voice che, secondo Forbes, ha guadagnato 43,5 milioni di dollari nel 2020, dei quali 13 milioni di dollari provenienti dal suo ruolo nella popolare trasmissione americana. Non solo perché dopo cinque anni di fidanzamento con Gwen Stefani, altra coach di The Voice, è prossimo alle nozze.

Questa volta è al centro di una polemica legata al suo ultimo singolo “Minimum Wage” (ascoltalo qui https://youtu.be/anMwcGsdrzA) canzone che, considerate le sue attuali entrate, può far sorridere ma a qualcuno invece ha fatto salire la pressione. Il testo è una dichiarazione d’amore che parla di tempi duri e pochi soldi ma finché hai l’amore e sei felice, alla fine della giornata hai tutto ciò che ognuno di noi vorrebbe e che conta.
Blake, come molti altri suoi colleghi, all’inizio della sua carriera riusciva a malapena a sbarcare il lunario e non lo nasconde, anzi. Quelli erano giorni in cui doveva scegliere se pagare l’affitto o la bolletta della luce o andare a comprarsi della birra. Certamente tempi duri ma ai quali il cantante pensa continuamente come alcuni dei momenti più belli della sua vita.
IL TESTO
Ciononostante, qualcuno ritiene che la canzone sia sorda all’attuale situazione in cui versa l’America, Shelton replica che se il testo viene considerato offensivo l’unica è accettare di avere un parere diverso. Siamo alle solite. Cosa può offendere in una strofa che recita “Ragazza, il tuo amore può far sentire ricco un uomo con un salario minimo” oppure “Ragazza, il tuo amore è denaro, il tuo amore è denaro”.
Certo, con l’amore non ci compri il pane e questi sono tempi in cui il politically correct non si sa più dove stia di casa, ma non dimentichiamo che la musica è una forma d’arte. Una canzone va sentita, ascoltata e capita, solo allora si possono comprendere le intenzioni e le emozioni ma sappiamo benissimo che ci sono persone sui social che vogliono solo litigare, sono rancorose e si scagliano un giorno contro una canzone, il giorno dopo contro errate previsioni meteo solo per il gusto di avere quello sprazzo di piccola mediocre vetrina fatta di likes coi quali, peraltro, non ci compri da mangiare.
Fortunatamente il clamore ridicolo e i commenti negativi su “Minimum Wage” si sono spenti dopo alcuni giorni e ciò che resta è una canzone dal tono emozionale alto che trasmette un messaggio positivo.
Ora Shelton potrà concentrarsi su se stesso per arrivare alle nozze con Gwen in perfetta forma!

What could be offensive about a verse that reads “Girl, your love can make a man feel rich on minimum wage” or “Girl, your love is money, your love is money.” Of course, you can’t buy bread with love and these are times when political correctness is no longer known where it belongs, but let’s not forget that music is an art form.
A song should be heard, listened to and understood, only then can we understand the intentions and feelings, but we know very well that there are people on social networks who just want to fight, they are rancorous and they lash out one day against a song, the next day against wrong weather forecasts just for the sake of having that glimpse of a small mediocre showcase made of likes with which, by the way, you don’t buy groceries.Fortunately, the ridiculous buzz and the negative comments on “Minimum Wage” died down after a few days and what remains is a song with a high emotional tone that conveys a positive message.
